the boring cockroach
last updated: 25 may 2026
· our commitment
the boring cockroach has a zero-tolerance policy toward child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). the app is restricted to users 18 years of age and older. we actively work to prevent, detect, and remove CSAE-related content and to report it to the appropriate authorities.
· age restriction
the app's content rating is set to 18+ on the google play store. account creation requires a google account, and users must self-certify that they are at least 18 years old at sign-up. accounts that we have reasonable basis to believe belong to a minor are suspended and the data is hard-deleted.
· prohibited content and behavior
the following are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account termination and, where applicable, reporting to law enforcement:
- any image, video, text, link, or description of child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
- sexualized content involving minors, including drawings, animations, or AI-generated material
- grooming, solicitation, or sexual conversation directed at or involving a minor
- sharing of personal information (PII) of a minor for sexual or exploitative purposes
- links to off-platform locations containing CSAM
- normalization, glorification, or trade of any form of child exploitation
· in-app reporting
every pulse, reply, and user profile in the app has a "report" action accessible by long-pressing the post or opening the profile's overflow menu. reports flagged as concerning child safety are routed to a priority queue, reviewed within 24 hours, and acted upon (content removed, account suspended) as a first-response measure even if review concludes later that no violation occurred.
· detection and removal
we operate the following layered defenses:
- client-side and server-side content length, link, and pattern checks before publish
- cloud functions enforce text length caps and rate limits on every write (pulse, reply, reaction)
- user-initiated reports are prioritized by category; child-safety reports go to the top of the queue
- moderator action on a CSAM report: content removed within 24 hours; account suspended; data preserved in a sealed evidence record before hard-delete, for the minimum period required to fulfill reporting obligations
- once reported externally, the account is hard-deleted and the user identifier is added to an internal block-list to prevent re-registration with the same google account
· reporting to authorities
suspected CSAM is reported to the relevant authorities in the jurisdictions where we operate:
- india — reports filed with the national cyber crime reporting portal (cybercrime.gov.in), and where appropriate, with the POCSO e-box maintained by the national commission for protection of child rights (NCPCR)
- international — reports filed with the national center for missing and exploited children (NCMEC) cybertipline at report.cybertip.org
· compliance with law
the app complies with the protection of children from sexual offences act, 2012 (POCSO) and the information technology act, 2000 (with intermediary guidelines) in india, and with applicable child safety regulations in any other jurisdiction where the app is made available. we cooperate with lawful requests from indian and international law enforcement agencies investigating CSAE.
· staff training and access
as a single-developer project, the app is built and operated by one person. that person is the designated child safety contact, trains regularly on csae detection and reporting workflows, and is the only individual with access to user reports. access to user-generated content is logged.
· transparency
this page is reviewed and updated at least once every twelve months, or sooner when our practices change. material changes are reflected in the "last updated" date at the top.
· contact for child safety concerns
designated point of contact for child safety:
email: bedduworkable@gmail.com
response time: within 24 hours for child safety reports
please use the in-app report flow for the fastest response. this email is the designated channel for law enforcement, NGOs, and other organizations to reach the app's child safety officer.
